Editorial is the hub of the studio and we “own the cut” and work closely with the director to cut picture, sound effects, music and dialog.

It’s all about compelling and entertaining storytelling and what we did best was tell funny sometimes action packed character driven stories.

We record the dialog and in animation it’s never “in the can”. What I loved the most working at Pixar for 14 years was the camaraderie of working side by side with some of the most talented in the industry to transform projects from good to exceptional & entertaining all ages.

What I loved about the story-editorial partnership is “story is king!” and the partnership formed between these two departments to support that went from story pitches to the editing room. We animated the story boards using Adobe After Effects and created custom pipelines to streamline our process.

Story, Script and Editorial were a well oiled machine always flexible to throw out a scene if it didn’t serve the story. We then approved a scene to be recorded with the actual actors (who sometime improvise!) and layout, animation and effects start coming into editorial where we “make the magic happen”.

From my years as an independent filmmaker, director and editor…to the years at Pixar working in editorial…telling a company’s story visually and “cutting to the chase” to showcase your brand identity, story and mission; it boils down to great storytelling which reaches an audience/customer in a way that speaks to them and offers value.
